Illustration to the book

by Markus Saksatamm

This story is about a little girl named Kaisa. Unlike her friends in kindergarten, Kaisa doesn't have a grandfather. So, she imagines and creates different grandpas for every situation in her life.

The book was published by KPD Tallinn Publishing House in April 2024.

This project was particularly interesting for me. It combined my love for people, numerous characters, and my favorite city. The editor gave me complete creative freedom, providing only the text. There were just two requests: to use traditional techniques and to include views of Tallinn in the illustrations, even though the city isn't mentioned in the plot. I used mixed media, including watercolor, gouache, and colored pencils.

Before publication, it was decided to publish the book in two languages: Estonian and Russian.
